The Road: A Look Back at 2014
2014 has been an exciting year for our carrier blog, The Road. Over the last year, The Road has featured posts written by numerous carriers, C.H. Robinson employees, and industry experts, on various topics—from the impact of winter weather and the driver shortage, to the increase in driver pay and new technology.
As we celebrate one year of posts focused on the important industry topics that impact your business and the trending issues that matter to you, we also reflect on the conversations and insight shared in this space. The three most popular posts according to you, our loyal readers, in 2014 were:
Popular Smartphone Apps for Truck Drivers: Technology is as important as ever in the trucking industry, especially for truck drivers who spend much of their time on the road. This post looks at some of the apps that can help make life a bit easier—including apps providing weather forecasts, fuel price updates, recommendations on places to eat, and ways to keep in touch with family and friends.
Truck Drivers and the Mobile Evolution: Like the aforementioned smartphone app post, this post also focuses on the important topic of mobile technology. Sixty-five percent of truck drivers carry smartphones, something that can help streamline their work on the road. This post highlights some of the things drivers can do via their smartphone, like search for loads, post a truck, and make automated check calls.
Flatbed Trucking: Industry Changes and Driver Shortage: As we all know, the driver shortage has been a major industry issue—one that is likely not going anywhere for the foreseeable future. We continue to welcome your thoughts on how the shortage is impacting your business.
As we kick off 2015, we would love to hear which topics you would like to see featured on this blog throughout the year. We also invite you—carriers, drivers, and owner-operators—to be a guest author here. If there is a topic you’d like to write about, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your ideas. We look forward to hearing from you in 2015!
