Women in Trucking Conference

This blog was originally published on The Road in February 2015. With the first annual women in trucking conference coming up, we thought we would rerun this blog post.

As a board member of the Women in Trucking (WIT) organization, I could not be more thrilled for our first annual conference, “Accelerate!” The conference and expo will feature a variety of educational sessions, interactive discussions, and endless networking opportunities.

WIT brings together a diverse group of companies, ranging from motor carriers of all sizes and third party logistics providers (3PLs), to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and private fleets of leading retailers and manufacturers. This event is not just for women in the transportation industry—we welcome all people in the industry to attend the conference. If diversity is important to your company’s initiatives, make sure you register. The conference is happening September 20-22 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, TX.

An exciting lineup of speakers will be featured, including Nagin Cox, a NASA engineer, and keynoter Jennifer Jo Cobb, published writer, TV motor sports analyst, NASCAR driver, and product spokesperson. Topics at “Accelerate!” will emphasize both professional and personal growth. The main theme will focus on raising awareness of gender balance, diversity, and the employment of women. You’ll have the opportunity to attend a variety of sessions with new learning, ideas, and tips—such as how to become a FAST (fearless, ambitious, strong, and trail-blazing) woman.

“Every company should be interested in this subject matter. Every company should be interested in doing business with companies who care about diversity. This is an opportunity for everyone to come together with the common goal to learn how to implement diversity into your own company,” says Ellen Voie, president of WIT.
